Williamsburg is served by I-64 - take Exit 238 onto Va. 143 to reach the historic area and Colonial Williamsburg. US 60 runs parallel to I-64 and is lined with chain restaurants and outlet malls, both east and west of the city. Traffic in Williamsburg can get congested during peak times and almost unbearable during the summer months, so if you intend to travel around the city, it is often best to take public transport. The scenic Colonial Parkway, which links Williamsburg with Jamestown and Yorktown, is one of the best reasons to hire a car and the scenery will leave you aching for more.
